Update #6 - Lunar New Year of the Pig!
– Wed, Feb 13, 2019 at 10:05:53 PM
Hello! Hope everyone is having a lovely February!
We just had Lunar New Year last week! ^_^ Year of the Boar/Pig. Do you know your own zodiac animal? I was born in the year of the Cat, which is the animal of choice in the Vietnamese version of the zodiac. They believe it may be due to the similarity between the ancient word for Rabbit (Mao) and Cat (Meo). They also say that the cat is more highly preferred over rabbits since cats were helpful against pests, while rabbits ruined fields. This little tidbit does not show up in Mizuchi sadly, but you'll find other unique little stories or history related to Vietnamese culture. There are still plenty of "made up" things such as Linh's own village, which is an amalgamation of a few other cultures. I hope to point it out within the creator's notes ^^
Back to the main game, there is roughly still quite a bit of writing to do (random bouts of sickness with a current cold), but I'm still prioritizing the scenes for the artists, so they will still be on schedule. We have roughly 7 CGs left to do for lineart, and 11 to color. The count isn't exact as some scenes have minor art variations or an extra CG put in ^.~ Hope you'll all enjoy the extra bonus art! (Not so for my budget...)
I mention the Lunar New Year since the Pig year is suppose have pretty good luck for the Cat/Rabbit, so I hope with the extra bit of luck, the game production will continue to go smoothly ;) See you in the next update!
Update #5 - January Woes

Hey! Here's my new wordy update (so sorry T_T;)
I hope everyone has had a great start to the year ^_^ Mizuchi update... Art has returned to the original pace for now. Currently working on the ending CGs and "love" scenes ^.~ It is very tricky lol. That also doesn't mean the writing is anywhere near finished sadly T_T; Just skipped the entire middle (shared route) and some events in the ending build up. The wordcount is currently 40K+ for the curious. Still have Ai's entire section to get into. I try to make the routes as varied and different in themes, and I hope everyone is willing to try both routes for the full experience. You'll also get a surprise 2nd menu image ;) It's definitely a little spicy lol (say thanks to Natalie).
So that brings up some new worries about meeting the deadline. If my current writing pace continues to grow... it means it'll take longer for me to script. I'm hoping for a clean 2nd draft and the editor to help make it perfect after.
So what are my January woes... reality. I've been delaying finding a job and getting my license, in order to work on the game for a number of months already. But I can only delay it for so long before family pressures start to rear it's ugly head. My spouse is handling my school loans, so that helps a lot at least. I'm gonna do my best to continue the current pace and juggle work in the near future. I'm hoping for part time work to continue to give Mizuchi my main focus. It'll also help pay for any extra costs the game may incur. I've felt guilty numerous times cutting my artist from continue to work on CGs in order to keep the game within budget :( They work on an hourly basis so I try to be as fair as I can with them. I'm also trying to avoid first timer dev troubles with ballooning costs from splurge.
I'm most worried about physical goods. The "current" pace of production has been 'good', but should anything happen I'm afraid the priority will still be the game released first and foremost. Physical and some digital goods may be delayed for months after as a result. Some of the digital goods include CG wallpapers, so playing the entire game would allow you to better pick the ones you want most. So I hope this is a reasonable train of though. The silver lining is the turnaround for the physical is quite good, so I'm confident it'll go well once it starts.
Here is an image piece of my top two favorite CGs ^^ (You already know the mermaid one).
Let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you again for your support and patience!

Update #4 - Reminders

Hello everyone!
Sorry for the quiet times. I believe all the teammates will be finishing their school assignments or prior engagements, and hope to ramp up production speed. We're now about 13/26 completed linearts, with 1-2 more heading to the inking stage. 12 of 26 completed CGs.
On the writing side, I was personally dealing with some life obstacles, and a rough writer's block as the pacing has changed up and characters not cooperating. But I've been getting back into a more consistent routine. Also after discussing with the artist, it felt best that I write scenes out of order, which is unusual to how I usually write. As a result, I'm hoping to finish writing out the 4 endings and romance scenes in the next few weeks, which would give Moonsta about 8 new CGs to complete quickly. So we hope to finish some big batches of art in the next month or two ^^ Which would give Natalie some time to finish coloring them. I believe we're still on pace otherwise.
Reminders - I've only got about half the backers to respond to the polling for the keychain images as part of their pledge tiers. So check your messages on kickstarter for the url if you may have forgotten to do it :D Hoping to finalizing which charms will get sent to be made in a week.
Mixture of some pieces of completed CG, rough and inked :D
Feel free to comment here or message us if you had any questions on anything. Hope you all have a lovely holiday and break! ^_^
